We’re Getting THE JETSONS New Animated Movie

Animated Feature Film

There has been talk of a live-action Jetsons film, but Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. Pictures has plans to move forward with The Jetsons as a fully animated feature film.

Therefore, the studio has just hired Matt Lieberman, the screenwriter of the new Scooby-Doo animated film to keep things in the Hanna-Barbera family.

The popular 1960s cartoon sitcom follows the retro-advanced animated Jetson family as they make their way through the future with the help of a robotic maid Rosie and Astro the dog. The original series followed the success of the studio’s “The Flintstones” and aired on ABC from September 23, 1962 to March 3, 1963.

Warners was developing a live-action version of the film with Kanye West involved recently as 2012, but delayed indefinitely the release of the film. Maybe they want to see how well an animated feature does first to gauge interest in The Jetsons before shoveling out all the money it would cost on CGI to do a live-action flick. Anyway, I am glad they are taking the animated route.

Universal released an animated feature film Jetsons: The Movie in 1990, which posthumously featured original voice talents George O’Hanlon and Mel Blanc.

I hope they will use talented voice actors instead of celebrity voices because that can really make or break the movie.
