Winding Refn to Produce Giallo Classic ‘What Have You Done to Solange?’
Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn has signed on to produce a remake of Massimo Dallamano‘s 1972 giallo movie What Have You Done to Solange?, according to Deadline.
Winding Refn’s film production company Space Rocket Nation would also be taking the point on remakes of cult classics Maniac Cop and Witchfinder General. When I think of this “Remake Trilogy” the very first thing that comes to mind is a pointless exercise in futility.
However, the third horror remake is expected to have a budget in the range of $5 to $10 million. The increasingly busy Refn will set the tale, which is about a killer picking off comely female students, in Los Angeles. He will work with Solange‘s original producer Fulvio Lucisano and is currently looking for writers and directors.
TBH I’m not too surprised on this one, mostly because his latest film The Neon Demon seems a touch inspired by this genre in general. The film just premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and will be released in the States on June 24th.
