WISH I WAS HERE First Trailer

Here’s the teaser trailer for Zach Braff’s Kickstarter-funded film Wish I Was Here, which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in January.

ScrubsZach Braff’s sophomore directorial effort is coming this summer on the big screen in New York and Los Angeles. He co-wrote, directed, and stars in upcoming comedic drama, which features a soundtrack that includes original songs by Bon Iver, The Shins and a special collaboration between Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Cat Power.

If you loved Garden State, you remember the scene where Natalie Portman tells Braff to listen to The Shins’ “New Slang” because the song will change his life. The first trailer for the film brings back The Shins again, opting to leave out dialogue almost completely in favor of music.

A “Garden State for grown-ups” also stars Kate Hudson, Mandy Patinkin, Josh Gad, Ashley Greene, Joey King and Pierce Gagnon.

Wish I Was Here hits theaters on July 18th, and expands on August 1st.

Let’s the music and cinematography shine and enjoy the “Simple Song,” “a chugging midtempo joint with huge ahh-ahh backing vocals.”

Wish I Was Here is the story of Aidan Bloom (played by me), a struggling actor, father and husband, who at 35 is still trying to find his identity; a purpose for his life. He and his wife are barely getting by financially and Aidan passes his time by fantasizing about being the great futuristic Space-Knight he’d always dreamed he’d be as a little kid.

When his ailing father can no longer afford to pay for private school for his two kids (ages 5 and 12) and the only available public school is on its last legs, Aidan reluctantly agrees to attempt to home-school them.

The result is some funny chaos, until Aidan decides to scrap the traditional academic curriculum and come up with his own. Through teaching them about life his way, Aidan gradually discovers some of the parts of himself he couldn’t find.
