X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Casting Rumors: More Contenders for Young Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm

Taron Egerton Sophie Turner

Right now, the only member of cast that’s been confirmed for the upcoming Bryan Singer film X-Men: Apocalypse is Oscar Isaac, who signed on in November to play the titular antagonist. The Wrap had reported in the same month a number of young actors and actresses were contenders to play the roles of Scott Summers a.k.a. Cyclops and Jean Grey, with Chloe Grace Moretz in the mix for the latter.

Yesterday, Latino Review has stepped forward claiming that Kingsman’s Taron Egerton, If I Stay‘s Jamie Blackley, and Mud‘s Tye Sheridan are in line for the role of mutant Cyclops. The Wrap reporter Jeff Sneider states that Sheridan is the leading contender for the role.

Joining the previously-rumored Elle Fanning (Maleficent) and Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) on the Jean Grey shortlist are Game of ThronesSophie Turner and Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan (Hanna).

Also, in that same tweet, Sneider states that Moretz turned the part down due to scheduling conflicts.

For young Storm, Fox is reportedly looking to Alexandra Shipp (Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B) and Zendaya Coleman (K.C Undercover) as possible candidates. Obviously, they’ll cast whoever they want to cast, but I would love to see Lupita Nyong’o end up in this role.

Fox Upcoming Superhero Film

Whoever is cast, they’ll be joining the already returning James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and the recently cast Isaac.

The Days of Future Past follow-up, X-Men: Apocalypse is set to roll cameras in Montreal this April ahead of a May 27, 2016.
