An extended cut of X-Men: Days of Future Past, including Anna Paquin‘s deleted scenes will be re-released as the “Rogue Cut” next summer on home-video platforms, according to producer Simon Kinberg.

X-Men writer and producer told Variety:

“It’s a big chunk. A substantial part of the movie. We want to give [fans] the fullest picture of the film — behind the camera, and in front of it.”

More than 10 minutes of footage that wasn’t included in Days of Future Past‘s theatrical cut will be added to the extended cut of the film, including Paquin’s scenes and more scenes featuring other characters as well.

“Every movie has scenes that are cut out, but not every movie has scenes cut out with such a beloved character,”

said Kinberg in the statement from a press event on the 20th Century Fox lot.

The scenes in question “didn’t fit” with the film, thanks to its heavy focus on James McAvoy’s Charles Xavier. The theatrical version of the film comes out on DVD and Blu-ray on Oct. 14.

I must say it’s sad to see studios do this things just to get more money from their audience.
